Justin Gaethje talks about Rafael Fiziev drowning in his own UFC 286 blood

Justin Gaethje enjoyed watching Rafael Fiziev “drown” in his own blood.

Gaethje and Fiziev shared the Octagon inside the O2 Arena in London, England, in the co-main event of UFC 286. “The Highlight” and Fiziev had a three-round war that resulted in the “Fight of the Night” bonus. Ultimately, it was Gaethje who was victorious by majority decision.

During the UFC 286 post-fight press conference, Justin Gaethje spoke about the pleasure of having his opponent taste his own blood.

“My coach told me. I heard him say, ‘Stay on the jab.’ Once I landed the first three, I couldn’t believe how clean they were landing.” dijo Gaethje. “There are different types of shots that you land there. When you feel the full force of the energy going in direct lines through your head, it’s a different take. That’s what I was feeling.”

“He wanted to taste my blood, but unfortunately he was drowning in his blood. I’m happy about that”Justin Gaethje pointed out.

For Gaethje, one last run for UFC gold is the way to go. “The Highlight” he said that while he’s not thinking about retiring, he did say that he won’t be in the wrestling game much longer.

“Retirement has not been on my mind. It is the fact, I am 34 years old ”, dijo Gaethje. “I will take the fights that I need to take to get to the position that I want to be in. There are countless examples of reasons not to overextend yourself in this sport. I’ll probably refuse to do that.”

Gaethje has been pounding the table, calling himself the most exciting fighter in MMA. With 11 fight night bonuses in 11 appearances, seven of which are “Fight of the Night,” he makes a pretty good case. Whether or not Gaethje can claim UFC gold remains to be seen, but fans will probably be more than happy to see him try.
