Karol G signs multimillion-dollar contract with Interscope Records, allowing her to release music independently with Bichota Records

On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, Interscope Records confirmed that the singer paisa Karol G signed a new contract with which he left his label Universal Music Latino to move to the North American company, which means, without a doubt, an important advance in the musical career for the Colombian.

But, a few days after the announcement, more details were released about the multimillion-dollar agreement that allowed Karol to keep his music catalogsomething that is considered a master move by Carolina Giraldo Navarro, the first name of the artist born in Medellín.

The information about the particular deal that Karol achieved with Interscope Records was released by the medium Billboardwhich assured that the negotiation between the singer and the company was long and complexbut it will give the Colombian the opportunity to release her new music under her own label, which, of course, will be called Bichota Records.

With his new contract, Karol G will have the opportunity to record on his own record label, while Interscope Records will be in charge of distributing and promoting his new songs and upcoming albums.

It was also known that Karol G will be the owner of her recordings, which is a smart move on the part of the Colombian artist, as this would have ensured her future by continuing to receive royalties from her songs over the years; as well as having full control of where and how her music is going to be used, for example, in movies or series, among others.

Regarding the new deal, Billboard confirmed that a close source described it as “one of the most ambitious contracts signed by a Latin artist that I know of” and added that “the value of the contract is close to 100 million dollars.”
