The last unknown related to the Summer Grand Prix 2020 calendar has been resolved. The authorities of the Kazakh Ski Association decided that the competition scheduled for 5-6 September will be held in Szczuczyn.
After the May approval of the Summer Grand Prix 2020 calendar, two issues remain to be confirmed. The first of them was the date of the competition in Wisła. Competitions on the hill Adam Małysz even received a reserve date of 19-20 September. On Wednesday, the Polish Ski Association confirmed that the competition in the Beskids will take place on August 22-23.
– Sandro Pertile is in favor of this proposal. He is looking forward to such a possibility and provides assistance in the coming weeks. There is nothing to wait for. In September, it will be after the holidays, and we want the most people to watch these competitions on TV and in the stands – says Andrzej Wąsowicz in an interview with Skijumping.pl.

The other unknown was from Kazakhstan, who was elected the host of the Summer Grand Prix of men and women on September 5-6. However, two cities were entered into the schedule – Szczuczyńsk and Almaty. FIS has set the organizers until July 6 to select the host city of the event.
As it turns out, the final decisions on the host of the second weekend of the Summer Grand Prix 2020 were made at the end of June. On Tuesday, the Kazakh Ski Association (KSA) had a video conference with the authorities of the world federation.
– Yesterday we conducted an online conference with the International Ski Federation. During it we confirmed the host of the Summer Grand Prix competition. Their organizer will be Szczuczynsk – says Anna Sanarowa, KSA communication manager in an interview with Skijumping.pl.
– Kazakhstan has two hill complexes that can conduct this type of competition. We needed time to talk to facility administrators and choose the best location for competitions. We have also taken into account the current situation in the world. The sports center in Szczuczyn is located in a completely isolated place – adds Sanarowa, explaining the decision of the Kazakh federation.
Szczaczyńska’s election must still be formally approved by the International Ski Federation. FIS will publish a communication on this subject by July 6. The same situation applies to the August competition in Wisła.
The Summer Grand Prix will return to Kazakhstan after a five-year break. In 2011-2015, Almaty was the host of the competition. Now Szczuczynsk will debut in the event’s schedule. The recently built National Ski Center hills hosted the FIS Cup and the Summer Continental Cup last year. The large hill HS140 allows you to give the longest plastic jumps in the world. During the opening of the arena in 2018, Slovene Yuri Tepes did not stop flying.
