The Kelowna General Hospital Foundation is in the midst of a massive community fundraising effort to complete its cardiac care program.
"The community was incredibly generous and supportive," said Doug Rankmore, KGH Foundation CEO.
The fundraiser is currently halfway to its $ 7 million goal, and a local family is stepping up with a significant financial contribution.
Margret and Darrell Porubanec as well as their sons Murray and Trevor are doubling this Thursday on the Giving Day of the KGH Foundation.
"We're ready on the day of giving, dollar for dollar, whatever comes through that door," said Darrell Porubanec.
"It's about a good thing. We will have first class care in Kelowna here at KGH. "

Improving local cardiac care is very important to Porubanec's heart.
At the age of 22, Trevor, her youngest son, collapsed. Later, he was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart rhythm.
He needed an internal heart defibrillator. This is one of the electrophysiology services that are not yet available at KGH, so Trevor had to be taken to Victoria.

And so the Porubanecs will go twice as far this Thursday for every dollar you donate.
Without the generosity of the community and people like Porubanecs, the KGH Foundation says cardiac patients are much more on the move.
