Former coach Juergen Klinsmann has said he has rejected offers to coach teams participating in the 2018 World Cup in Russia but plans to return to training after the tournament.

Klinsmann said in remarks published in the magazine “Kicker” sports in its issue on Monday that he received contacts from “four or five teams of participants in the World Cup,” but the responsibility of one of them did not meet his ambitions adequately.
For me, the World Cup starts only from the Round of 16, “Klinsmann said.

The 53-year-old said he was ready to take on a new challenge after taking over from Germany in 2004-06 and the US team between 2011 and 2016.
“I am ready to start again, and there are opportunities that will emerge after the World Cup,” he said.

Klinsmann said he saw his future as coach, but he believes Joachim Loew, Germany’s current coach, is on his way to a future club.
Loew has been training for Germany since Klinsmann’s departure in 2006 and will continue until the next Euro-finals.

“I expect it would be tempting for the club if one of the clubs chose the right moment,” said Klinsmann of Loew, who was his assistant coach. “If Bayern Munich or Barca lobbied, it might be attractive to him.
