Jürgen Klopp has apparently prevented a spectacular transfer from Liverpool. Did the ex-BVB coach actually veto a world star?
Did Jürgen Klopp prevent a spectacular sensational transfer from Liverpool FC?
According to consistent reports from English media, the Reds were initially keen on signing superstar Neymar from PSG. The winger could have filled the void left by Sadio Mané after leaving Bayern Munich.
However, ex-BVB coach Klopp is said to have vetoed it in the end. According to former Liverpool pro Don Hutchinson, the Brazilian didn’t fit into Liverpool’s system.
“Only Messi technically better”
“He’s a talent. In his heyday there was only Messi who was technically better than him. He was so good. If you look at the top four teams outside of England, nobody can afford him. Then there are teams like Liverpool, who don’t really want him because he wouldn’t fit into their system,” Hutchinson explained ESPN.
Neymar in contact with London
It was recently announced that PSG would be ready to let the 30-year-old go, and Neymar himself is said to be not averse to a change.
Although Neymar’s contract with PSG was extended until 2027 due to a clause in the contract, the offensive player is said to have recently contacted Chelsea. Ex-teammate Thiago Silva has already lured the Champions League winner (season 2014/15) to the Blues.
