A Liverpool fan missed the celebrations after winning the Premier League because he was in the hospital. When Reds trainer Jürgen Klopp found out about it, he sent him encouraging words – with great effect.
Liverpool FC fans had to wait 30 long years for the next championship title. Last Thursday, the time had come: The Reds around the German coach Jürgen Klopp celebrated the 19 Premier League titles in the club’s history.
The city was upside down. The fans celebrated exuberantly, gathered in crowds at Anfield, the club’s home, and elsewhere in the city (which Jürgen Klopp did not necessarily approve of due to the corona crisis). A longtime Liverpool fan couldn’t be part of the party, though he certainly would have liked to.
Klopp with video message to sick fan
We’re talking about Thomas Walsh. He is the singer of the Irish band “Pugwash” and has been a fan of Liverpool FC since childhood. He is currently in the hospital. Why is not known, only that he is not doing well.
Klopp also found out about this – which is why he quickly sent Walsh a greeting video. “Hi Thomas, we are English masters!”, Klopp begins his message beaming with joy. “Our mutual friend Arnd Zeigler told me that you are a huge LFC fan and that you would like to have a message from me because he has already met me and you have not.”

“I’m not that keen on music, but I heard your song ‘It’s nice to be nice’ – that could actually be my motto in life. I like to be nice,” Klopp continues and ends his greeting as he started it has: “So I thought to myself, be nice and send Thomas a video of what I’m doing with this. At this moment we are all united because: We are English champions! All the best!”
Fan bursts into tears after greeting Klopp
Zeigler is the stadium announcer at Werder Bremen and hosts his own TV show “Zeigler’s wonderful world of football”. In this he announced the Klopp message on Sunday, because it was he who asked the Liverpool coach for a few encouraging words for his acquaintance.
Before the broadcast, he had already forwarded the greeting video to Walsh – who was highly emotional and also recorded this on video. “I can’t believe you did that!” Says Walsh in tears. “I can’t believe it! Thank you very much!”
The singer finally wrote a message to Zeigler on Facebook: “He (Klopp, Anm. d. Red.) did more for me than any antibiotic, any pill (…). “

Between 1976 and 1990, Liverpool FC won ten of 15 possible championships in England. The then record champion would never have believed that he would go out empty-handed for 30 years and then be redeemed by a coach from Germany. Jürgen Klopp crowns his revitalization of a soccer giant that started in 2015.
