Koons sends works of art to the Moon

Art, like people, is in constant change. Techniques, movements, themes and now the way to expose it. It’s clear that for a long time the art left the museums, but now they are looking for it to reach space. This will happen at the end of the year when Koons sent works of art to the moon and here we tell you all the details.

How will they get to the moon?

For some time now, the NASA was looking for companies developing robotic lunar landers. Intuitive Machines was chosen and is currently working on Nova Cthe module that will take Koons’ works to the moon.

This will happen at the end of this year and the launch will be from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The mission is “autonomous” and will reach Ocean of Stormsthe hemisphere facing the Earth.

the works of art

The set of works of art that Koons will send to the moon will be called “Moon Phases” and will consist of 125 sculptures which will represent the lunar phases. 62 views from the earth, 62 views from the moon and an eclipse. These will also bear the names of people recognized as Plato, Warhol, Nefertiti, Gandhi, Bowie, and Helen Keller.

The works of art will consist of 3 parts: a moon sculpture of about 2.5 cm in diameter for the purpose of being installed on the moon, a large spherical sculpture, made of stainless steel and covered with glass, to stay on the earth, with transparent colors representing the surface of the moon, and a NFT that it will represent the sculpture of the moon and will bear the signature of Koons.
