Kyle Rittenhouse Says Trump’s Attorney Left Him In Jail While Fundraising On His Name

Kyle Rittenhouse accused his former lawyers of putting him in jail for 87 days to collect the bail money “so they could later take it for their own benefit.”

In an interview with Tucker Carlson of Fox News, Rittenhouse said his attorneys, Lin Wood and John Pierce, could have gotten him out of jail in September “but they wanted to keep me in there until November 20” and instead told him that “ I’d be safer ”there than at home.

“I was in jail for 87 days,” Rittenhouse said, criticizing former President Donald Trump’s attorney Lin Wood and conservative pro-Trump attorney John Pierce, who represented him in the first instance in the case.

Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges by a jury on Friday for the deaths of two men and the wounding of a third with a military-style rifle during anti-fascist protests in Kenosha last year.

“Lin Wood raised money on my behalf, and kept me in jail for 87 days, without respecting my wishes, put me in media interviews that I should never have done, and said, ‘Oh, you’re going to talk to The Washington Post ‘which was not a good idea, along with John Pierce. They mentioned that I was safer in jail than at home with my family, “he said.

The 18-year-old said 87 days was a “very long” time.

“I lost a lot of weight there,” he added.

“But 87 days of not being with my family for defending me and being taken advantage of, being used for a cause by them, by John Pierce and Lin Wood, trying to raise money so they could take it for their own benefit, without even trying to free me, “he said.

“So you think they could have raised the bail money faster, yet they didn’t?” Carlson asked.

“I think that, sometime in September, maybe on September 5 they had like, they had more than a million dollars and the bail was set and to be able to pay in September. Then they could have made me sign the extradition waiver and sent me back to Wisconsin, and they could have rescued me in mid-September. But they wanted to keep me in jail until November 20 ”.

Rittenhouse added that Pierce called him a militia after he was released on bail.

“… Once I was rescued, John Pierce said he was in a disorganized militia, which was a blatant lie,” he told Fox News.

“I didn’t find out what the military was until after the fact, until November 25, when I saw some of the interviews he did. I said, I am not in a military. I don’t even know what that is ”.

While Pierce declined to comment, Wood told the Associated Press that his Fightback Foundation raised money for Rittenhouse’s bail and publicly stated that the case was a Second Amendment issue.

“He was not an attorney fighting for a cause,” Wood said. “Fightback has a mission that includes the right to bear arms and self-defense.”

Rittenhouse and his former attorney are also in a dispute over who will receive the $ 2 million bond. After the jury in Kenosha cleared Rittenhouse of all charges, his defense team filed a request to receive bail money on his behalf. However, Wood also filed a motion requesting a claim on the money with Rittenhouse’s attorney and said “there is going to be a fight over this.”

Wood has also come under fire for advising Rittenhouse to speak to him. Washington Post while on murder charges, and the teenager’s attorney, Mark Richards, called Wood an “idiot.”

In criticizing Mr. Wood, Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene called him “really evil.”

She tweeted: “I’ve told everyone how awful Lin Wood is and if you looked at [Tucker Carlson] tonight, so you heard from Kyle Rittenhouse one of the reasons why I think it’s true. “

“That Lin kept Kyle in jail instead of rescuing him with ALL the money donated FOR Kyle is really evil,” he said.

He added that Wood “should go to jail for what he did to Kyle.”
