Labor sentence for a rioter of the demonstrations against sanitary measures

He is also ordered to pay the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police zone, which had instituted civil proceedings, damages of up to 1,500 euros.

The defendant attacked the police during the first demonstration in Brussels against health measures, against the vaccination obligation and against the Covid Safe Ticket (CST), on November 21, 2021. He had to answer for assault and battery, rebellion and destruction of movable property.

This demonstration had taken place in peace but violent riots had broken out on the sidelines of it. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office then opened files against 53 suspected rioters. Six individuals, including the defendant, had been arrested directly during the events or just after them.
