Last generation in Frankfurt: renewed blockades

Activists from the group “Last Generation” have once again glued themselves to the streets of Frankfurt and the surrounding area. The action was announced in advance.

As previously announced, environmental activists from the group “Last Generation” are once again blocking streets in Frankfurt today. According to the police, people got stuck on the road again, causing traffic delays in the following areas in the morning:

  • In Offenbach city traffic in the Kaiserlei area at the slip road to the A661
  • On the B43/B44 between Frankfurt-Süd and Oberforsthausen
  • Bornheimerhang/Ratsweg

It is already about the second week in a row, in which the group paralyzes the main traffic arteries in Frankfurt. With their action, the activists called for an “immediate move away from financing and building any further fossil infrastructure.”

Blockades in Frankfurt: Several arrests

The group accuses the federal government of promoting fossil infrastructure and thus wars. She holds a “protective shield” over “the rich and powerful” who “burn and murder livelihoods.”

According to the group, more than 30 activists spent the Easter holidays behind bars. After their release, they are now again blocking major traffic junctions in Frankfurt.

As the police announced on their Twitter account, the blockades in the affected areas could be lifted.

The group is controversial because of their methods and their highly emotionalized approach. Recently there have been controversial blockades in Berlin and Hamburg as well as at several airports. In the run-up to the general election, several activists went on a hunger strike.
