Late satisfaction for Lewandowski? The Ballon d’Or 2020 is to be awarded retrospectively!

Robert Lewandowski has presented himself in absolute top form for almost two years and was named FIFA World Player in 2020. For many fans, media and experts, the Pole was also the absolute top favorite for the Ballon d’Or. However, the renowned award was not given in the previous year due to Corona. According to current media reports, however, the prize could still be awarded retrospectively.

At the beginning of December, “France Football” will again award the prestigious Ballon d’Or award. The golden ball is one of the greatest individual awards that a footballer can win. Rumor has it that Lionel Messi is the big favorite for the 2021 Ballon d’Or after winning the Copa America. It would be the seventh time for the Argentine to take the prize.

But also from the point of view of Bayern and especially of Robert Lewandowski there could be reason to cheer.

Ballon d’Or 2020: is there a happy ending for Lewandowski?

In France, reports are currently circulating that “France Football” is thinking about awarding both the Ballon d’Or in 2021 and 2020 (retrospectively) this year. Among other things, the “L’Equipe” reported on these plans. Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski should therefore be the top favorite for 2020. An official statement from “France Football” is not yet available.
