The 31-year-old defender has signed up for the “Gulbenes Buku” team coached by Raimonds Gabrān and Pavel Veselov Jānis Antropswho played for “Ogres” last season, scoring an average of eight points per game in the “Pafbet” Latvian-Estonian basketball league tournament.
Antrops has represented “Turiba”, “Liepāja”, “Jēkabpili” and “Ogri” in the top league of the LBL. In the summer of 2018, the basketball player was recruited by “Ventspils”, but even before the season, Antrop suffered a serious injury that forced him to miss the entire year. After healing the injury, the defender returned to the field for “Gulbenes Buku” in the LBL 2nd Division Championship, but then returned to “Ogre”, where he also played until the end of last season.
Antrops is one of several players who returned to “Gulbenes Buka” this offseason. After a short break, the team will be represented again by Sandis Bērts, who was part of “Jēkabpis” last season and won the silver medals of the tournament, and Jānis Dileva, whose “Līvānu” team managed to knock the Jēkabpilians out of the “Užava” cup competition. Among the reinforcements from Gulbeni are also long-time Valmiera basketball player Jānis Engers and last season’s “Madona” leader Toms Kohanovs.
