The Chief of the Ministerial Cabinet, Alberto Otárolaannounced this Wednesday, after holding a meeting in the Presidency of the Council of Ministers with Agustín Lozano, president of the Peruvian Football Federationand Juan Reynoso, coach of the Peruvian National Team, that the start of the Betsson 2023 League 1 is approved for this week, with the detail that the contest will take place without the presence of the public in the stadiums.
“I want to communicate that the Government has decided to support the resumption of League 1 and there will be football starting this weekend. What we want as Peruvians is for sport to help us achieve peace, we have to support our Peruvian team resolutely, which needs to see the players, have training sessions and, mainly, call on all the professional soccer teams to that they contribute to this process of consolidating peace in the country through sports”, the head of the PCM told the media.
Last Tuesday, at a meeting of the National Commission against Violence, it was agreed to recommend the total suspension of date 3 of the Opening Tournament of League 1 2023, which was scheduled to take place from Friday, February 3. However, after managing the Peruvian Football Federationit was approved from the Government to register for the competition to enter into action.
League 1 without public
Alberto Otárola specified that the League 1 Betsson It will be played from this week, although noting that there will be no access to the stadiums of the nine corresponding matches of each day.
“The Government is going to grant the permits. Initially, the stadiums will be closed this weekend and starting next week we will be evaluating the show for all Peruvians”, he mentioned.
“The Police will provide all the guarantees. We are certainly going to evaluate some areas where there has been high social conflict, but the idea is that Peruvians can have access to sport and that professional soccer is reactivated like all the activities in the country ”, he added.
The Professional Soccer League was scheduled to hold from Friday 3 to Monday 6 February the third day of the Opening Tournament of the Liga 1. In the absence of the official announcement of the entity, the championship will be carried out maintaining that programming. Thus, the comparison that starts the contest will be the Cusco FC vs. Sport Huancayo.
