Today, Thursday, Lebanese President General Michel Aoun confirmed that matters in the file of demarcating the southern maritime borders have come to their “happy conclusions”, and Lebanon will get what it deserves from the wealth.

A statement issued by the Lebanese presidency stated that the Vice-President of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, quoted the president, after their meeting at Baabda Palace, before noon on Wednesday, as confirming that “things have come to their happy conclusion” in the file of demarcating the southern maritime borders, and that Lebanon “. He will get what he deserves.

He pointed out that “no one can give up his sovereign right in light of the one Lebanese position, and the entire Lebanese people are behind this position,” stressing “the need not to create a vacuum at the governmental and presidential levels.”

Al-Khatib also stressed “the importance of forming a new government as soon as possible, and for everyone to bear responsibility and cooperate to save the country and lift people out of the miserable reality they are suffering from.”

Earlier, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati stressed Lebanon’s adherence to its sovereignty, wealth and rights in its territorial waters, saying that his country was close to concluding an agreement with “Israel” on the demarcation of the maritime borders.

It is noteworthy that the US mediator in the file of the demarcation of the southern maritime border, Amos Hochstein, had visited Lebanon, on September 9, and presented new proposals to Lebanon in the demarcation file.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had stressed that it is not possible to allow the extraction of oil and gas from the “Kareesh” field before Lebanon obtains its demands, noting that this is a “red line”.
