CelebritiesActress Angelina Jolie (46) and actor Brad Pitt (57) have been officially divorced since 2019, but the problems surrounding the custody of their children continue to linger. Pitt recently appealed a decision earlier in the trial, but the California Supreme Court has now denied it.
Earlier in the trial, a judge of the case, John W. Ouderkirk, was sacked over possible ties to Pitt’s lawyers. That was a major victory for Jolie, who, according to her lawyer, insists that “the well-being of her children will not be determined by unethical behavior by the parties involved”. Brad Pitt subsequently appealed that decision, but without success. The California Supreme Court declined to hear Pitt’s appeal against that decision, declaring online: “Petition for review and request for postponement denied.”
Angelina’s attorney, Robert Olson, is pleased with the current developments: “As confirmed by the California Courts of Appeals, our judiciary is prioritizing ethics and the best interests of the children. No judicial misconduct will be tolerated to advance the interests of any one party. Ms. Jolie is relieved that the family can now continue to work cooperatively.”
The former Hollywood golden couple are embroiled in a custody battle over their six children: 20-year-old Maddox, 17-year-old Pax, 16-year-old Zahara, 15-year-old Shiloh, 13-year-old Vivienne and 13-year-old knox. Only the five minors are subject to the final decision of the court.
