Leonardo DiCaprio will play one of the lead roles in the new comedy Don’t Look Up, reports Empire Thursday. The shooting of the film, which is being made for Netflix, will start next month in the American city of Boston.
In February it was already announced that Jennifer Lawrence will play a leading role. She and DiCaprio play two scientists who discover Earth is about to be hit by a meteor. The couple travels to generate media attention, but are met with indifference and people who don’t believe them.
Don’t Look Up is written and directed by Adam McKay of The Big Short in Vice. Those satirical films, based on the banking crisis and the life of American Vice President Dick Cheney respectively, were nominated for several Oscars.
Just like in The Big Short appear in Don’t Look Up several famous actors in small roles. The so-called cameos are reserved for Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Matthew Perry and Ariana Grande.
