The Borussia Dortmund star was not on the radar of the English Premier League club’s transfer although they soon lost Sane who agreed to Bayern.
Pep Guardiola closed the possibility to re-recruit the former winger Manchester City Jadon Sancho as Leroy Sane’s successor.
Sancho, 20, has been linked to the departure of Borussia Dortmund in the transfer window and he is the target of two major English Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea.
City are now looking for a new winger because Sane has almost completed his transfer to Bayern Munich at an initial price of € 49 million (£ 45 million / $ 55 million), with an additional € 11 million (£ 10 million / $ 12 million).
Sancho left the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2017 without making an appearance with the first team and, although City had the option to match every offer that came to the player as part of his move in the past, Guardiola was not interested in returning the England international.
“Day [Sancho] decided to leave, why did he have to go back? “said the City manager ahead of the match on Friday (3/7) early morning hrs against new champions Liverpool.
“When he decides to move to Dortmund, that doesn’t mean he will come back. It doesn’t make sense. If he wants to leave, I say he doesn’t want to go back.
“This is part of the process, we want to be with the players in the last ten years to be immortal but we have also grown in recent years and we have to replace them with new players.”
Guardiola stressed that he had to make changes in his squad, with the central defender taking priority after the failure to replace Vincent Kompany who left last summer.
Captain David Silva will also leave at the end of the season while Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero enter the last 12 months on their contract, although Guardiola hopes the Argentine striker will sign an extension.
Asked whether he would rebuild his squad, Guardiola said: “Not because of the lack of quality but this is due to the absence of Vinny, David … Sergio has one more year [di kontraknya], I don’t know whether he will extend the stay or not.

“Some players must be replaced. It is not a disaster, it is part of football for their age and normal conditions for them.
“It happened at other clubs and when the players decided to leave, Jadon Sancho and Leroy – especially Leroy. We cannot do anything else, as a club, if the players do not want to stay then they must leave, we will not get the best if they are not happy here.
“That is the first thing and the second thing as we get older. It happens in clubs all over the world, you can never last. We have to accept that and try to make the right decision to maintain the level we have. “
