Life insurance with more claims in Edomex

According to the A4 State of Mexico User Service Unit of the National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users (Condusef), as of December 2021, the insurers with the highest number of claims for their insurance product life were: HSBC Seguros with 45, MetLife Mexico with 19 and Seguros Argos with 9.

The industry average was 5 claims per 100,000 insured risks in the fourth quarter of last year and the most recurrent causes of claim had to do with the request for cancellation of the contract or policy not met, the refusal to pay the compensation, as well as the disagreement with the time for the payment of the compensation.

The evaluation of the Condusef corresponds to the 10 insurers that make up 80.4 percent of the premium issued in this branch, that is, those that have a greater volume of insurance among the user public.

31% of the resolutions were favorable

The increase in the claims index of HSBC Seguros stands out, going from 10 to 45 and of BBVA Seguros, going from 4 to 5 in the fourth quarter, compared to the third quarter of last year, as well as that Grupo Nacional Provincial (GNP) remained the same.

It is worth mentioning that on average 31 percent of the resolutions in the insurance sector for the life insurance product were favorable, GNP stands out with 42 percent, followed by Zurich Santander with 40 percent, and HSBC Seguros and MetLife Mexico with 37 percent.

Compared to the third quarter, MetLife Mexico, Citibanamex Seguros and Seguros Banorte decreased their favorable resolution in the fourth trimester.

On average, insurers take 20 business days to resolve user claims, a figure equal to that of the third quarter of 2021.

The insurance companies that took the least time to resolve the complaints were: Axa with 16 days, GNP and BBVA Seguros with 14 days and Seguros Monterrey with 10 days. Likewise, Seguros Monterrey and HSBC Seguros reduced the time it takes to respond.
