Ligue 2 is launched and well launched! The second day was in full swing this Saturday, July 31 with 17 goals scored in seven games. And already some lessons can be learned.
Today’s confirmations: Caen and Paris still leaders
First leaders of the season in Ligue 2, Paris FC and Caen faced Dunkirk and Niort respectively and the two teams did not tremble. In a closed match, Caen got the better of Niort thanks to a goal from Alexandre Mendy (48 ‘) bringing his counter to four goals, as much as last season.

For Paris FC, it was not a piece of cake. Thierry Laurey’s men were jostled by a valiant Dunkirk formation. They had opened the scoring thanks to a nice header from Guilavogui (1-0, 13 ‘) but the former Tchokounté house remembered the good memories of the Charléty stadium with a nice plunging header (1-1, 35 ‘). More enterprising, the Parisians doubled the bet on a great collective action concluded by Gakpa (2-1, 65 ‘).
The card of the day: Toulouse passes four to Nancy
Disappointed not to have gone up to Ligue 1, Toulouse left in a good way in this Ligue 2. They did not drag to open the scoring thanks to his striker Healey, after 40 seconds of play (1-0). Behind, they unfolded, in particular thanks to the technical quality of his master of the game Branco van den Boomen, author of three assists this Saturday evening including two from a corner where he served Gabrielsen (2-0, 27 ‘) and Rouault perfectly. (3-0, 42 ‘). Rhys Healey, defeated by any markings, then pushed Nancy (4-0, 67 ‘). The Nancy side are last in the division after two days.
The return of the day: Guingamp glue back in the last moments
The Guingampais expected a complicated match against Valenciennes and they were right. After a first act locked, the two formations are somewhat discovered at the end of the meeting. With a magnificent curled shot, Gaëtan Robail opened the scoring (1-0, 76 ‘). Guingamp then pushed and was rewarded with a corner corner at the end of the match with a header against his camp from Baptiste Guillaume (1-1, 89 ‘).
Surprise of the day: Sochaux beaten by Le Havre
They are among the favorites to climb to Ligue 1 but the Doubistes missed out on their match against Le Havre. They gave in early in the match after a hand fault from Prévot, benefiting Boutaïb (1-0, 6 ‘). The latter scored a second goal twenty minutes later after another hazardous exit from Maxence Prévot.
The other results of the day: Ajaccio and Rodez win
The Corsicans start this Ligue 2 championship very well. After an initial draw against Toulouse (2-2), the Ajacciens largely dominated Amiens 3-1 thanks to the achievements of Cimagni (10 ‘), Courtet (45’) and Moussiti-Oko (76 ‘). In the meantime, Tolu had reduced the mark from the penalty spot (52 ‘).
Finally, Rodez won on the smallest of margins against Pau in a match marked by red cards (one on each side). Buades, with a pretty lobed head, scored the only goal of this meeting.
