Ontario reported 340 new cases on Sunday, including 223 patients who were unvaccinated or of unknown vaccination status, as well as two deaths.

Quebec reports 567 cases of COVID-19 and 1 death, bringing the total to 425,960 infected people and 11,494 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Yesterday, the province recorded 591 infections and 2 deaths.

While the United States has authorized the use of the Pfizer vaccine for this age group, Health Canada has not yet approved the vaccine in Canada, which must also receive the approval of the Quebec Immunization Committee.

According to Dr. Sarah Wizman De Louya, pediatric infectious disease specialist, the data review process could take “several weeks”, and stretch until the end of 2021. Children aged 5 to 11 could therefore not be vaccinated before this date.

Beijing rose up on Sunday against an investigation by US intelligence services published Friday into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, calling it “political and false”, while urging Washington to “stop attacking” China.

“No matter how many times this report is published and how many versions concocted, it cannot change the entirely political and false nature of this report,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said.
