Get scoring updates, news and analysis on Sunday at 13:05. The 49ers want to recover from a loss of the season by hosting the Detroit Lions at Levi's Stadium.
Jimmy Garoppolo is finally a human. After winning his first seven NFL starts, Garoppolo had his worst game as a 49er in the 24-16 loss to the Vikings last Sunday. He completed only 15 of 33 passes and threw three interceptions.
He has a good chance of atoning for home as the Lions come into play after perhaps the worst season opener of all teams. Detroit quit 31 unanswered points in the third quarter in Matt Patricia's first game as head coach and the Lions were booed at home on their way to a 48-17 loss to the Jets.
History says things will not get much easier, like the Lions who lost 12 games against the 49ers in the Bay Area. The last time Detroit beat the 49ers in those parts was in 1975, when Steve Spurrier was San Francisco's quarterback.
The Lions hope their first game at Levi's will be their Bay Area trend.
Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had an even worse start last week when he dropped an NFL high-four intercept in Detroit's loss.
This will be the second of linebacker Reuben Foster's two-game suspension for the 49ers.
Looking to the future, next Sunday when the 49ers travel to Kansas City to face the Chiefs, things get exponentially more difficult.
