Mohamed Salah joined the Hollywood stars and political heavyweights for the Time 100 Gala in New York after being named one of the most influential people in the world by the US magazine.

The Liverpool striker rubbed himself with the biggest names in music, film and television at the red carpet after being selected as one of six coverstars for the magazine's annual issue,

The 26-year-old shared his cover picture on Instagram when the announcement was made, saying he was "honored" to have the 2019 list recorded as one of his "Titans."

"Always ready to help make the world a better place," he added in the caption.

In his interview with the magazine, he talked about the importance of equality for women.

"We need to change the way we deal with women in our culture," said Egyptian international Time.

"I support the woman more than before, because I feel she deserves more than what she gives her now.

"That must be, it's not optional," he added.

In a piece for Time said the British comedian and Liverpool fan John Oliver, that he loved the footballer "absolutely".

"Mo Salah is a better person than a footballer. And he's one of the best footballers in the world, "he wrote.

Salah won the Premier League Golden Boot during an outstanding 2017/18 campaign and has so far scored 19 goals this season for Jurgen Klopp's championship leaders.

He was named this year's Confederation of African Footballers of the Year after winning the trophy in 2018, and was named both PFA Player of the Year and Footballer of the Year of the Football Writers' Association last year.

Other time cover stars included US House spokeswoman Nancy Pelosi, actors Sandra Oh and Dwayne Johnson, pop star Taylor Swift and news presenter Gayle King.
