‘Liz’s phone hacked, chat leaked; Putin’s agents behind?’ – Liz Truss | United Kingdom | Russia

London ∙ Former British Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader Liz Truss’ personal phone was revealed to have been hacked. The international media Daily Mail reported that the hacking took place while he was working as the Foreign Minister, and it is suspected that an agency working for Russian President Vladimir Putin was behind it.

The hackers are suspected to have leaked private conversations with Kwasi Kwarteng, a close friend of Lis Truss, and details of secret talks with Britain’s allies. Kwasi Kwarteng was later elected Britain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer and was dismissed from Lis Truss’s cabinet over the country’s economic reforms.

There were also indications that the leaked messages contained details of arms exports and discussions with foreign ministers of various countries about the Ukraine-Russia war. According to the report, the then Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Cabinet Secretary Simon hid this information.

After the opposition came forward demanding a detailed investigation into the incident, the British government ordered an investigation. Liz Truss became Britain’s third female Prime Minister after two months of campaigning in the party. With reformed policies shaking up the financial sector, the finance minister was fired to save the government’s face, but to no avail. Finally, Lis resigned on the 45th day after assuming power.
