Looking ahead: what will happen in group A and B? – Basketball Champions League 2022

MIES (Switzerland) – There is still a lot to be decided in the final weeks of the group stage in the Basketball Champions League, as many groups are still open with teams struggling to qualify.

Group B currently has the only team that has officially qualified for the round of 16.

Let’s take a look at what’s coming in Groups A and B:

8/12 games played

Upcoming matches – December 8

19:00 CET: Prometey vs. Banco di Sardegna Sassari (Primer partido: 87-79)

19:30 CET: Lenovo Tenerife vs. MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg (First match: 69-80)

Upcoming matches – December 21

20:00 CET: Sassari vs. Tenerife (First match: 60-87)

20:00 CET: Ludwigsburg vs, Prometey (First match: 86-64)

Match to see

Tenerife against Ludwigsburg. Both teams enter this matchup tied at 3-1, second and first in the group, respectively, but Ludwigsburg currently owns the head-to-head tiebreaker. Tenerife needs to win this second matchup by at least 12 points to win the tiebreaker if both teams finish with the same record at the end of the group. Either way, the winner of this match will be 4-1 and in the driver’s seat to finish as the best team in the group, which would mean an automatic qualification to the round of 16.

8/12 games played

Only one team in the BCL, BAXI Manresa, has officially secured their place in the round of 16, as they are the only undefeated left.

Manresa secured his place after Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem defeated Arged BM Stal Ostrow Wielkopolski in their last matches.

Jerusalem and Ostrow, who have a 1-3 record, can no longer catch up with Manresa.

Manresa also swept Pinar Karsiyaka, who is 2-2, meaning the Spanish club will finish at the top of the group no matter what happens for the rest of the time.

Upcoming matches – December 6

20:00 CET: Karsiyaka vs. Jerusalem (First match: 86-84)

Upcoming matches – December 7

18:30 CET: Ostrow vs. Manresa (First match: 76-81)

Upcoming matches – December 22

20:30 CET: Manresa vs. Jerusalem (First match: 73-68)

20:30 CET: Ostrow vs. Karsiyaka (First match: 77-80)

Match to see

Karsiyaka against Jerusalem. Karsiyaka currently possesses the potential head-to-head tiebreaker after her narrow two-point win in the first meeting. If Jerusalem wins this match by at least three points, it will own the tiebreaker over Karsiyaka if the two finished tied at the end of the group stage. Karsiyaka, Jerusalem and Ostrow will battle for second and third place in the pool for a shot at the Play-In round.

The team that finishes fourth in the group will be eliminated, so these last two games mean a lot more to those three teams.
