Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan deliver the CEO’s investment plan Tesla dan SpaceX Elon Musk in Indonesia still takes time and a long process.

Luhut also revealed that there is currently no official agreement between Indonesia and Elon Musk.

“Entering investment from a company is not as easy as snapping a finger, this requires a process and takes a long time. Moreover, this is an investment with a jumbo value,” said Luhut in an official statement, Monday (23/5).

Luhut said the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment has established very good communication since the last two years with Elon Musk and Tesla.

Elon Musk is also said to be interested in investing in the nickel industry in Indonesia, which is considered very promising to meet the needs of the electric vehicle ecosystem.

Since the meeting of the Indonesian delegation at the Tesla electric vehicle assembly plant in Austin, Texas, on April 26, Luhut and the Tesla team have continued to carry out intensive negotiations to formulate various details regarding the investment formula that will be used.

However, the final decision regarding the investment will rest with the company.

“They (Tesla team) came to Indonesia earlier this month, visited several nickel processing factories, and we also responded no less quickly to show our seriousness and support,” said Luhut.

Despite continuing to communicate with Elon Musk and the rest of the Tesla team, Luhut appealed to all parties to be patient because the investment plan is still in the negotiation stage.
