Alexander Lukashenko stated that a coup d’état in Belarus is being prepared in three neighboring countries – Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine.

“In Poland, Lithuania and, unfortunately, in Ukraine, members of illegal armed formations are being trained, attempts are being made to create dormant extremist cells directly in the country. Recent facts testify to this. That is, we are preparing a powerful scenario for a change of power. We see it. We will not allow this,” the BelTA state agency quotes Lukashenka from his speech at the meeting of the Council of Heads of Security and Special Services of the CIS countries in Minsk.

Lukashenka called informational and psychological influence the key threat to the security of the CIS, the purpose of which is allegedly “undermining the authority of our states in the international arena.”

“Dangerous, aggressive actions are being carried out under fakes,” he said.

“We need to understand that the big players around us – Russia, Belarus, Central Asian states – are slowly trying to stretch us. We must not allow this,” Lukashenka is quoted as saying.

He also added that he agrees with the Russian president Vladimir Putinwho the day before declared that it was not Russia that started the war in Ukraine.

“I absolutely agree with President Putin when he says that we did not start this war. It didn’t even start in 2014. It started long before 2014. The “brown” coup that took place. We have seen who is leading Ukraine to this,” noted Alexander Lukashenko and admitted that during this time Ukraine was creating a capable armed forces.

BelTA does not specify which CIS countries sent the heads of their security agencies and special services to the meeting in Minsk, and which were limited to the participation of their representatives at CIS bodies or embassies.
