LUMAGICA: The world-famous magical light park is coming to Vienna for the first time

From December 8th to February 12th, the palace complex of the Europahaus will be transformed into an enchanting park of lights

Vienna (OTS) At 24 locations worldwide – from Japan to Denmark, Great Britain, Germany to Innsbruck, the castle ruins of Ehrenberg and Frohnleiten near Graz – LUMAGICA already inspires visitors* with magical light installations in an atmospheric ambience. Now the original is coming to Vienna for the first time: from December 8th to February 12th, the palace complex of the Europahaus will be transformed into an enchanting park of lights. Under the motto “Waltz of the Animals”, a bright crowd of colorful butterflies and cheerful forest animals, rhythmic dancers or cheeky dragonflies enter the park and transform it into a magnificent ballroom. Energy-efficient LEDs ensure the resource-saving implementation of the LUMAGICA light park. Tickets are up now www.lumagica.at/wien available.

The historic EUROPAHAUS with its SCHLOSS Miller-Aichholz, which sees itself not only as a place of education, but also as an international meeting place, offers a very special attraction for the Viennese and visitors to the city this winter. The dreamy park landscape of the EUROPAHAUS, which normally represents a very special attraction for visitors, especially in the summer months, will now also be transformed into a magical place in the dark season for the first time.

LUMAGICA Vienna: Opening of the original on December 8th

With the LUMAGICA Light Park, the historic palace complex of the Europahaus will be enriched by a pre-Christmas atmospheric attraction. There will be a total of more than 350 light objects to be discovered, all carefully handcrafted. Music-synchronous light shows and interactive elements will also line the nocturnal circular path of the light park.

With the expertise of 24 locations worldwide, including the light park in the Hofgarten Innsbruck, which has been successful for three years, MK Illumination, the Tyrolean world market leader for festive decorative lighting, is impressively staging another historic location. “When designing the light park, we were inspired by the rich history surrounding this place. After all, what better place for both dancing and animal figures of light – all framed by the sounds of a waltz – than in this wonderful ensemble? In combination with the wintry nature, there are unique points of contact that allow visitors to immerse themselves in a fantastic world. The staging will definitely be lumagic,” says Thomas Mark, President of MK Illumination, who is already looking forward to the new location. The Viennese event and promotion agency KESCH is responsible for the organization and implementation of the light park: “The LUMAGICA light park offers the Viennese and visitors to the city a unique opportunity for a magical and mystical walk in nature, which is the magnificent palace complex also easily accessible by public transport,” says Lukas Schütz, KESCH Managing Director.

LUMAGICA light parks – economical use of energy guaranteed

During the conception, the focus was always on energy efficiency and resource-saving planning as an urgent necessity. “In these times, there is an urgent need to conserve energy for a number of reasons. And of course there is no question that the basic needs of the population must be guaranteed first. From our point of view, the activities related to LUMAGICA are subordinate to this”, Thomas Mark is aware of the current situation in the energy sector. For this reason, all measures were taken from the start to ensure economical use of energy for the light park. “Thanks to the exclusive use of LED lighting, it is possible for us to realize LUMAGICA with an extremely low energy requirement. The total power consumption of a light park, including its infrastructure and catering, amounts to around 14,000 kWh over a period of 52 days. This means that the consumption per season corresponds to around 4.8 times the average annual consumption of a four-person household,” explains Mark. An even simpler comparison: A LUMAGICA light park consumes the same amount of electricity in one season as 15 street lamps in a year.
