A souvenir shop at the White House will stop selling a commemorative coin issued in honor of the summit of Russian and US leaders Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, due to mistakes made in the translation. This was announced by shop owner Tony Giannini, RIA Novosti reports.
“By the end of today, the coin will become part of the story because of [ошибок] and since it will be sold, it will never be available again, ”he said.
The cost of the coin is 100 dollars. According to Giannini, the design of the coin and the translation of the text from English into Russian completely belongs to him. He also apologized for the absurdity in the translation.
The store manager noted that the commemorative coin is in great demand. “Americans want peace with Russia, and I created a coin to honor the leaders of the United States and Russia for their courage to show that even in moments of disagreement the peace process continues and [необходим] a lively dialogue between two nations, ”Giannini concluded.
According to the agency, the gift shop operates under the brand name of the White House. However, he is not the official distributor of souvenirs, which are made by order of the US administration.
