Magic lights: First Christmas markets open in Lower Franconia

Mayor Sebastian Remelé will hold the traditional ceremony today at 5 p.m Schweinfurt Christmas market officially open in the marketplace. Showmen and market traders from various sectors have been offering their wares since the morning. At the same time, kindergarten children decorated Christmas trees on stage, which were then distributed throughout the Christmas market. After today’s opening, the Nuremberg Christkind is expected at the Schweinfurt Christmas market on Saturday at 3 p.m. The market runs until December 23rd.

Bad Kissingen and Aschaffenburg already open

Already on Tuesday Bad Kissingen blaze of lights started, in which the entire old town of the state baths shines in the glow of thousands of lights. The blaze of light officially opens on Friday at 5 p.m. and ends on December 26th.

After he had to fail in the usual form for two years like many other markets due to the corona pandemic, the Aschaffenburg Christmas market Open since Wednesday: Oversized Christmas pyramids welcome visitors from all over the region in front of the picturesque castle backdrop. The Aschaffenburg Christmas market ends on December 22nd.

Würzburg, Lohr and Miltenberg will follow

Of the Würzburg Christmas market starts on Friday and lasts until December 23rd. Mayor Christian Schuchardt will open the market on Friday at 6 p.m. with around 100 stalls in front of the historic backdrop of the Falkenhaus and Marienkapelle. At the artists’ Christmas market over the four Advent weekends, more than 30 artists will show their craftsmanship in the historic inner courtyard of the town hall.

It only begins on December 2nd Snow White Christmas Market in Lohr am Main. It is the first of its kind and takes place in the park of the fairytale town in the district of Main-Spessart. The Snow White Christmas Market lasts until December 11th.

On the three Advent weekends in December, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons, the Miltenberg Christmas market. A highlight of the Christmas market in the medieval half-timbered town is the “Magic of the Angels”, a parade on the second Saturday in Advent.
