Man beat transgender woman after he was offered $ 200, Dallas police say | Crime

Edward Thomas, 29, what arrested about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in connection with the assault that was recorded on video, police said. He faces a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

Police have indicated the case is being investigated as a possible hate crime.

The victim had been driving between 5 and 6 p.m. Friday at the Royal Crest Apartments in the 3500 block of Wilhurt Avenue when they accidentally got into another vehicle, they told police.

The other driver, who arrives in the arrest-warrant affidavit but who has not been arrested, said he left the victim.

The victim, Muhlaysia Booker, told police the driver pointed to her and refused to let her leave unless she paid for the damage. Thomas $ 200 to beat Booker, the affidavit said.

Thomas put on gloves, then walked over to booker and punched multiple times.

Repeatedly stomped on Booker's face. Police say another person, who has been arrested.
