An official of the Arab royal family who stayed in a five star hotel in Chamanji and drowned without paying a bill of 23 lakhs has been arrested. A 41-year-old man named Mahamed Sharif committed the fraud at the Leela Palace Hotel in Delhi. (man deceived as Arab royal family official arrested)
The incident was on November 20. Sharif took a room on August 1 in room number 427, a luxury room in Leela Palace. The fraud claimed to be a high-ranking official of the Arab Raja family. A fake business card etc. was given as proof.
Sharif has paid Rs 10 lakh as rent for the month of August and September. Sharif issued a check in lieu of the bill of Rs 23,48,413 due till November. The hotel authorities came to know that they had been cheated when they gave it to the bank. There was no money in the bank.
The subsequent investigation revealed that Sharif had taken the silver bottles and valuables including the mother of pearl tray from the room.
