How much should you pay per month for stay near your university or school ? While Back to School fast approaching, it’s the big rush on the student housing in Lille, as everywhere in France. But how can you be sure that the price displayed for such and such appartement is within the market range?
To help future tenants see things more clearly, the online rental and rental management agency Flatlooker has looked into the prices charged near universities and colleges based on the average rents for a 25m² studio rented furnished.
Lille cheaper than Paris, Marseille, Lyon and Bordeaux
For this study, Flatlooker screened the rents of five major cities in France: Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux and Lille. Good news, accommodation in the capital of Flanders when you are a student is, on average, cheaperaccording to figures from the agency.
For a 25m² studio rented furnished, the average rent is below €600. With the exception of accommodation near Centrale Lille, offered at around €629. For students in medicine and other health sectors, rents are less expensive near the faculty of medicine: 577 euros on average.
In the center of Lille, this is played out in a pocket handkerchief with fairly similar prices: 582, 587 or even 595 euros per month for student accommodation located near the Catholic University of Lille, Epitech, Skema, Sciences Po or still the University of Lille.
By way of comparison, similar accommodation is rented between 867 and 1048 euros in Paris. Although prices start lower in Marseille (€553), they often exceed the 600 euro mark and go up to 658 euro. In Lyon, the range is between 568 and 674 euros. And in Bordeaux, it is between 649 and 670 euros.
