Mask, suit and a winner

Ggood evening,
that was a surprise once. The Hessian Greens punished their dual leadership at their delegates’ meeting in the Jahrhunderthalle on Saturday, or rather: the male part of the duo. The young Philip Krämer from Darmstadt, who only graduated from high school ten years ago, will no longer lead the party with 65-year-old Sigrid Erfurth. But the 51-year-old Sebastian Schaub from Limburg-Weilburg. Krämer can get over it, he was elected to the Bundestag in September. Those present in the Frankfurt Jahrhunderthalle wanted to know from him how he wanted to reconcile this and the party leadership. His answer to these and other questions apparently did not convince party friends. Our colleague Robert Maus spoke to him about how the new co-chairman Schaub sees it and where he sees the goals of the Greens in Hesse for the next few years and reports on it.

With a mask for mulled wine: the Christmas market begins on Monday in Frankfurt. It has been clear since Friday: If you want to visit him, you have to wear a mask. The mask requirement applies to pedestrians and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. There is no general access restriction to the Christmas market, but there is for some areas; the 2-G rule applies to these consumption areas. Offenbach is stricter. The 2-G rule for visitors to Christmas markets applies there, also from Monday. There are exceptions for people who are not yet 18 years old and who have a negative test that they have taken promptly. What the showmen and booth operators in Frankfurt say about the conditions and what they are hoping for is in the Rhein-Main-Zeitung.

It has been eight months since the most recent local elections in Hesse. In Rüsselsheim it was and is associated with a scandal. There had been considerable manipulation of postal votes, and individuals had obtained and filled out documents with the names of other eligible voters. In one district, around 400 postal voting documents had been requested from a single email address, the public prosecutor was investigating. Regardless of this, at its meeting on September 23, the city parliament declared the election to be valid and thus accepted the election result, even though the election is to be repeated in a postal voting district. Now the deputy chairman of the Rüsselsheim FDP, Christoph Böhm, who is also deputy FDP chairman in the Groß-Gerau district, has filed a lawsuit with the Darmstadt administrative court.
