Maurizio Sarri has announced that he was surprised by Chelsea's brilliant start to the season. He admits he expected to fight at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are undefeated in their first ten Premier League games among the Italians and have reached the quarter-finals in the Carabao Cup, outperforming their Europa League group.

Sarri has transformed Chelsea's game from his two years with Antonio Conte, with the former Napoli boss favoring a more possession-based approach.

The Italian knew the task ahead of him before joining Stamford Bridge. Since he had so little time with the squad after his late appointment, Sarri says he is shocked at how well things have gone so far.

"No, no," Sarri asked, asking if he expected such a good start.

"Because in every experience I had before my time at Chelsea, I got into trouble in the first two months.

"I thought it would be the same here, I think I was lucky that the players could win without very good tactical organization."

Few would choose Chelsea to extend their unbeaten run to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Sarri revealed star star Eden Hazard, who can play against the Eagles, but suggested he could play only 40 minutes outside the bench due to a back problem.
