Mbappé has not talked about leaving PSG, says Mauricio Pochettino

PARIS – Paris coach Saint-Germain, the Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, assured this Thursday that the star attacker of the team, Kylian Mbappé, has not “spoken” to him of a possible march at the end of the year that remains of his contract.

In an interview with the newspaper Le Parisien that appears early on its website, Pochettino reviews the signings that are being made during the preseason and deals especially with the case of Mbappé, who until now has rejected offers to extend his contract in Paris.

For now, he assures that Mbappé “is a player on the squad and we will treat him in the same way” as the others. His contractual situation “is managed at another level. At the sporting level, nothing changes.”

Pochettino avoids detailing whether the French attacker has personally confided to him that he will not extend his stay in Paris: “They are private conversations, but in no case has Kylian told me about it.”

And he assures that this lack of definition does not take away his sleep, because “a contract is signed from one day to the next.” “I don’t think about what can or cannot happen. There is a one-year contract and that is a reality,” he remembers.

Regarding the movements of the PSG market (with the additions of Sergio Ramos, Donnarumma and Achraf, among others) he affirms that “it is not a question of names. It is about improving the team”, and considers that “the club is doing a great job. work “in which he and his collaborators participate with the management.

Asked if French midfielder Paul Pogba is a target for PSG for the remainder of the market, he insists on not talking about names: “I don’t like talking about players who belong to other teams. The club works with all discretion.”

Regarding whether the arrival of Donnarumma could cause Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas discomfort, he explains that “PSG needs competitiveness in all positions, constant evolution, growth. The players who are already there or those who arrive, know it very well.”

For this reason, Pochettino insists that the arrival of Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, after ending his contract with Real Madrid, “contributes competitiveness”, although he avoids ruling on whether with his incorporation he could change the system to a defense of three centrals and two lanes. .

“Each one must show his courage. Sergio and the other signings”, warns the Argentine coach, who tries to put a high level of demand in the heads of his players: “Every game”, be it friendly or a final, “must be taken in the same way”, .

This is the case of the French Super Cup that will be played next Sunday against Lille (champion of the last French league) in Tel Aviv. “The moment is not ideal for anyone” because everyone is in the middle of the preseason, “but there are no excuses. We must go and play this final to win it,” he added.

On the attempts that Real Madrid and Tottenham would have made at the beginning of the preseason to try to hire him, he points out that he has maintained “a calm, fluid relationship” with the presidency and the sports management of PSG.

He emphasizes that he did not consider it “necessary” to deny “the rumors”, since “things have always been clear. There was no need to say more.”
