LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ – Maricopa County Shericat officials say an eleven-year-old boy shot and killed his grandmother and then gunned the gun on Saturday night at Litchfield Park.
According to MCSO, shortly after 5 pm, MPs received a phone call from a man near Litchfield Road and Wigwam Boulevard, who reported that his grandson shot and shot his wife, 65-year-old Yvonne Woodard.
The grandfather told the deputy that he and his wife had full custody of their grandson.
The couple reportedly asked the grandson to clean his room and to look after himself all day because he was "persistent".
Officials say the two then sat on their couch in the living room to watch TV. The grandson reportedly came after them and shot Yvonne in the back of the head with a gun belonging to his grandfather.
The grandfather ran after the grandson, but returned quickly to help his wife. Moments later, he reported that the grandson had shot himself.
At this point, the grandfather took the gun and called 9-1-1.
"In the preliminary phase of this investigation, there was no indication that the grandson could harm anyone or himself, and there was no cause for concern before that event," MCSO said in a press release.
The investigation is not completed at this time.
