COVID-19: Recovered people can take a second dose of vaccine if necessary for travel

Those recovered from COVID-19 in Portugal and who have to travel to countries that require two doses of vaccines can now take the second dose, points out a rule by the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

In Portugal, the vaccination schedule for people infected with the disease provides for taking only one dose of the vaccine. However, there are countries like Canada or the United Kingdom that ask outsiders for both doses. In these cases, the DGS made an adaptation so that they do not have to quarantine in the destination countries.

“To make life easier for all people who need to move to countries where two doses are required, even for people who have recovered, whoever needs that dose, goes to a vaccination center, says they will move to a from these countries and the second dose will be administered”, explained the general director of Health, Graça Freitas, in an interview to RTP.

Those recovered from Portugal, without this second dose, would have to undergo a quarantine of 14 days upon arrival in Canada and 10 days in the United Kingdom.
