At the intersection in co-operation with the Latvian Radio News Service, creates a series of programs “State Budget 2022 – close-up”. We study and analyze how the line ministries intend to use the money collected in taxes. This time the focus is on environmental protection and regions or the priorities of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (MEPRD) in the distribution of budget money. The Deputy State Secretary for Environmental Protection of the MEPRD is discussing Rudite Vesere, Director of the State Sustainable Development Planning Department of the MEPRD Raivis Bremšmits, Deputy Chairman of the Latvian Association of Local Governments Vents Armands Krauklis, environmental scientist, head of the association “Green Freedom” and researcher at the University of Latvia Jānis Brizga and former Minister of Regional Development and Local Government Edgars Zalāns.

In the areas of local governments and environmental protection, next year’s budget envisages further support for local authorities’ opportunities to borrow from the state for environmental improvement, as well as to focus more on the remediation of long-term polluted sites.
