The main topic of the Mercedes-Benz stand will be electrification. After all, five of the eight upcoming premieres will be purely electric cars.
Although interest in car shows is declining, a number of interesting news are expected at this year’s first IAA car show in Munich, which for the first time replaces the IAA car show in Frankfurt. BMW, Smart, Dacia, Renault or Mercedes-Benz cars should have their premiere here.
Until recently, in connection with the three-pointed star, there was talk mainly of the premiere of the EQE electric sedan, but according to some speculations, we may also see the premiere of the EQG electric off-road concept. But in the end there should be significantly more news.
According to colleagues from Autoevolution, who contacted Koert Groeneveld – the head of product and technological communication at Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans, the carmaker is preparing eight premieres for the IAA Munich. Five of them should be purely electric, then one car should be a “powerful hybrid.”
“‘Lead in Eectric’ is Mercedes-Benz’s main message at the International Motor Show, which will take place in Munich for the first time,” said Groeneveld. “Out of a total of eight premieres, five models will be purely electric and one will be a powerful hybrid. They show how the electrification of the entire portfolio continues to gain strength in all brands. “
That powerful hybrid could be the Mercedes-AMG C63, whose supposedly electrified powertrain has been speculated for a long time. In addition, its premiere could take place later this week. A Mercedes representative mentioned that an interesting news could come this week.
The new generation AMG C63 technology could consist of a 2.0-liter supercharged four-cylinder, known from the 45 models, whose performance could be around 416 horsepower. The internal combustion engine should be assisted by an electric motor with an output of about 197 hp and the combined power should reach approximately 631 hp.
The car should be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in about 3.7 seconds. Thanks to the plug-in hybrid drive system, there is also talk of a purely electric range of around 65 kilometers. But if it really should be a powerful hybrid from the AMG workshop, we will certainly see a lot of other interesting things.
