Meryl Streep (70, "The Iron Lady") and Nicole Kidman (52, "The Hours") take the lead roles as musical actresses in the Netflix movie "The Prom". As the "Hollywood Reporter" reports, director and series creator Ryan Murphy (53, "American Horror Story") has cast the cast largely with stars. Also singer Ariana Grande (26, "Dangerous Woman") and comedian James Corden (40, "The Late Late Show with James Corden") play along. Thus, the streaming service ventures for the first time to the filming of a Broadway musical.
"The Prom" tells the story of a lesbian student in a conservative town who is not allowed to bring her friend to school prom and finally receives support from a group of stage stars. The musical was very successful on Broadway, received six Tony Award nominations and ends on August 11th.
With Streep and Kidman as lead actresses Murphy has brought a well-rehearsed team: The two Oscar winners played together in the drama "The Hours", currently they are in the second season of the HBO series "Sweet Little Lies" to see.
