Meta presents Community Chats for Messenger and Facebook in Spain – El Candelero Tecnológico

Meta presents the Community Chats for Messenger y Facebook in Spain. The purpose of this new functionality is for people who use these platforms to be able to debate and talk in real time about the topics that interest them most in text, audio or video format.

These are the main features of this new functionality:

· Community Chats can be both in text format and as an audio call, making it possible to discuss topics in greater depth in small groups:

  • Administrators will be able to start conversations about specific topics, to which group members will have the opportunity to reply immediately, without the need to publish a post.
  • Instead of dealing with several topics in the same Messenger chat, now the conversations can be divided into categories. For example, a group of fans of a band might have a “Latest News” category dedicated to album releases, tour dates, or activities.
  • People, in addition to connecting with their loved ones, will have the possibility to connect with their groups through Messenger.

· Within the Community Chats, members will be able to choose several options, among which are:

  • Chats for members on a specific topic.
  • Event chats for meetings or hangouts.
  • Broadcast chats, in which only the administrator or moderators will have the possibility to address the community.
  • Audio chats of up to 30 people where you can share live comments or receive help in real time. For example, a Facebook Group admin can create a dedicated audio chat for study groups during final exams. In it, the participants will have the possibility to activate the video to receive live tutorials. These chats can only be accessed by members of the Group.

· In addition to the new features, the company has developed tools for administrators to manage these chats:

  • Moderation tools such as blocking, muting or suspending participants, as well as the possibility of deleting messages or group members.
  • Administrator assistant, which allows you to automate the suspension of participants, delete reported messages and prevent the sending of messages from people who violate the rules of use.
  • Members of Communities chats can also report inappropriate messages to administrators or Meta, as well as block users or leave a chat at any time.
