Thank you for reading the news about technology: Microsoft begins testing a new OneNote design overhaul and now with the details
Cairo – Samia Sayed – Microsoft has begun testing a new OneNote design update, as the software maker first teased the visual update last year, revealing that it will standardize OneNote apps for Windows 10. Beta testers can now access some of the new OneNote design changes as part of The classic desktop version of OneNote.
The design changes allow OneNote to integrate more seamlessly with the rest of Windows 11’s aesthetics. The navigation and full-screen panes are updated, and the page list, section tabs, and the notebook drop-down list also look different.
Microsoft is using its own Mica effect, which is used in the Windows 11 theme and desktop background, for the general application window in OneNote.
All the changes create a more modern look for OneNote, with rounded corners and updated animations. There’s also a new unread indicator that matches the rest of Office and makes it easier to see pages with unread changes. OneNote will also get an optional streamlined ribbon, something that falls between hiding the ribbon and using the full-height version.
If you love using OneNote to take notes in digital ink, the latest version includes an updated drawing tab with tools similar to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Features like Ink to shape, Ruler, and Ink to text are available on this updated tab.
OneNote also includes support for the Surface Slim Pen 2 and its touch gestures that mimic the feel of a pen on paper.
Microsoft plans to add ink replay and a new pen focus display that will turn OneNote into a “pen first experience.”
Sorting pages is also coming in OneNote, allowing users to sort pages by creation date, modified date, or alphabetically. A new sharing experience and image insertion feature from the Windows Camera app are now available to testers, and the rest of the new changes are coming soon.
Microsoft is focusing on updating the main OneNote desktop app, with plans to bring key features from the easy-to-touch OneNote for Windows 10 to the main Unified app. .
