Microsoft’s Surface Hub 2S will soon get along with other devices certified for Teams Rooms and will get the corresponding functions. Participation in Zoom or Webex meetings is also simplified.
Microsoft has announced a major update for its interactive whiteboard Surface Hub 2S. Accordingly, the device will become part of the Teams Rooms family in the future and will receive some Teams Rooms functions that are apparently in high demand, both for users and for administrations. Among other things, we are talking about features such as Front Row, persistent chats, consistent remote management functions and more.
As Microsoft writes in the Surface IT Pro Blog, the Surface Hub 2S will also be able to be combined with all accessories certified for Teams Rooms in the future. In addition, a new feature is promised that will allow users to quickly and easily dial into a third-party online meeting, such as Zoom and Webex meetings.
From the end of the year, Microsoft wants to automatically deliver all new Surface Hubs with Teams Rooms. In addition, owners of a current Surface Hub 2S, i.e. the second generation, should be given the opportunity to update their devices accordingly. It also states that the current Windows 10 Team Edition on Surface Hub 2S will certainly receive security updates and critical fixes until October 14, 2025. (mv)
