The company had previously launched its Defender antivirus application for Mac computers last year, and now they have announced that they will take it to mobile devices for iOS and Android smartphones.
According to Microsoft, “Providing comprehensive protection on multiple platforms through a single solution and an optimized view is more important than ever. Next week at the RSA Conference, we will provide a preview of our investments in defense against mobile threats with the work we are doing to bring our solutions to Android and iOS. “
The company will share more details about the application next week, so we will share them with you at that time. That said, it will be interesting to see what kind of protection Microsoft can offer to iOS devices. This is largely due to Apple’s walled garden approach with third-party applications that can sometimes limit its functionality.
It remains to be seen how Microsoft plans to overcome that or work with those limitations, but as we said, the details will be revealed next week, so check with us for updates.
