The steering and the modalities of the large consultation, organized in response to the crisis of "yellow vests", must be specified during the day by the Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe.
After the decision of Chantal Jouanno, the president of the National Commission of Public Debate (CNDP), to withdraw from the steering of the great national debate, this task will be returned to a duo of ministers, Emmanuelle Wargon, the Secretary of State to the Minister of the Ecological Transition, and Sébastien Lecornu, the Minister in charge of Local Authorities, announced Monday several government sources.
According to these sources, Sebastien Lecornu should more specifically take care of the place of the elected and Emmanuelle Wargon of that of the civil society in this large consultation wanted, out of the crisis of "yellow vests", by Emmanuel Macron. Sébastien Lecornu should write to the mayors in the coming days.
In addition to these two ministers, the Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe, must appoint this Monday afternoon officials to ensure independence from the government of this great debate of two months. Contrary to what the Minister of Ecological Transition, François de Rugy, mistakenly suggested, the former head of the CFDT Nicole Notat does not appear in the list of possible independent "guarantors". The former head of La Poste and RATP Jean-Paul Bailly, 72, would be a good part.
While the head of state published Sunday evening a letter in which he calls "the largest number of French" to participate in the great national debate, Edouard Philippe must clarify this Monday the terms of this major consultation.
