The beekeeping insurance with state subsidy from Agroseguros del Minagri is a benefit that protects the beekeeping sector against production losses caused by various risks, allowing the producer to recover their assets and maintain beekeeping.

The Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela Van Treek, together with the executive director of Agroseguros, Aníbal Pérez Lobos, called on beekeepers to find out and protect their investment in the face of any eventuality, through the opportune contracting of beekeeping insurance subsidized by the State that offers Agroseguros from the Ministry of Agriculture, an instrument that covers various risks that cause losses in production, family or hive.

“I make this call to beekeepers to protect their investment against climatic risks and other accidents, by contracting beekeeping insurance offered by the State through Agroseguros. I invite you to find out about the coverage, the values ​​and take advantage of this valuable tool that will keep your production safe”, commented the Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela Van Treek.

Likewise, the executive director of Agroseguros, Aníbal Pérez Lobos, added that “this subsidized insurance is key to the proper development and safety of the national beekeeping industry. “Any economic contribution that arrives is a godsend. The insurance was very efficient. When the compensation arrived, it was a great help to me”, says Héctor Muñoz, a beekeeper from the Biobío region, who suffered an accident that affected his bees, but quickly recovered his investment.

From the Maule region, in Curicó, beekeeper Ernesto Lagunas highlighted the protection that insurance provided to his hives in times of rain. “The service was good and within the deadlines. In my case, we were affected because many bees died on us. Also, it was during a rainy season that affected my hives and crops. The beekeeping insurance with a State subsidy for the copayment of the cost of the policy has coverage between Coquimbo and Los Lagos and protects the business against losses in the production of honey, family or material from the hive, caused by risks named in the policy , such as torrential rain, strong wind, earthquake or tsunami, fire, smoke, pesticide poisoning, drought, theft and named diseases, among others.

Its cost depends on the location of the apiary (region and commune), the number of hives insured, the state of the hives and the coverage that the beekeeper hires. At the time of contracting it, the producer only pays the non-subsidized part, so the price is convenient for beekeepers.
