On May 18, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, said that if on average in Russia about 10-12% of all tests for coronavirus infection are positive, then in Dagestan this figure exceeds 35%. According to her, this suggests that more testing is needed in the region.
The day before the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Health of the Republic, Jamaludin Hajiyibragimov, reported the death of 40 doctors from community-acquired pneumonia and COVID-19.
According to the federal operational headquarters, Dagestan now ranks fifth among Russian regions in the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19. 3643 cases were registered in the republic, of which 36 people died.
