Houston could be facing one of the most sensitive casualties in the 2022 season of the Major League Baseball (MLB) after the revelation pitcher at this start of the campaign, Jake Odorizzi, had to be stretchered out of the game this Monday, May 16 against the Red Sox of Boston after suffering a rare leg injury during the fifth inning.

After throwing a pitch to Puerto Rican Kiké Hernández, the pitcher went down to cover first base. After taking a couple of steps towards the pad, Odorizzi fell to the ground and lay face down for a few moments. before turning to have the assists check him out. Apparently the pain was in his left leg.

Odorizzi recently found his form after struggling in his first three starts of the season. The right-hander retired the first nine Red Sox batters he faced on just 32 pitches. Odorizzi struggled in the fourth, allowing two singles and walking one batter before Hernandez scored on Alex Verdugo’s fly ball.

The Astros pitcher has been dealing with injuries for the past several years of his major league career. Since 2019, he has been placed on the disabled list six times, all for 10 days. In the 2020 campaign he was only able to make four starts.
