The Los Angeles team, in a penalty shootout, beat the Philadelphia Union to lift the league title.
After five seasons, LAFC could finally be the MLS champion. They had to go to a penalty shootout, where they defeated the Philadelphia Union 3-0 with goalkeeper John McCarthy as a great figure, saving two shots in the series.
During regular time, the Los Angeles team was tied a couple of times and when it seemed that the championship was getting out of hand, Gareth Bale equalized the duel to go to the definition from the penalty spot.
